A leafy garden and gazebo area situated in the grounds of the hospital is available for the enjoyment of patients and their visitors.
Hairdressing services can be arranged on request for patients staying at Brisbane Private Hospital. Please speak to our staff for further assistance.
Housekeeping staff will visit patient's rooms daily. Please inform them if you have a specific request.
When admitted, patients are provided with an identification bracelet. These bracelets provide staff with important information about each patient and their specific needs. It is important that patients do not remove their identification bracelet at any time during their hospital stay.
Our staff are able to arrange an interpreter service if required.
Patients are requested to make arrangements to have friends or relatives do their laundry for them while they are hospitalised, if required. Laundry services are available at the hospital for patients under special circumstances where this is not possible. Laundry services provided by the hospital will be charged to the patient and is payable on discharge.
Incoming mail is delivered to patients daily. A post box for outgoing mail is located at reception, in the main foyer of the hospital. Mail is cleared at 4pm daily. Stamps are available at the dispenser near the coffee shop.
Every effort is made to maintain the hospital in the best possible condition for patients. To keep the hospital in tip top condition we request patients notify staff if they see anything that requires attention.
All of your current medications and repeat prescriptions should be brought into hospital with you. Any medications, which are not brought in at the time of admission, can be supplied by the hospital but this will be an additional cost to you.
We request mobile phones are not used within the hospital as they may interfere with patient monitoring equipment.
May be purchased from the coffee shop or from the volunteers who deliver to the wards Monday to Friday. Newspapers and magazines may be purchased from the coffee shop on weekends.
A nurse call bell is provided for each patient at the bedside and in other key locations throughout the hospital, such as bathrooms. Patients unsure of how to use the nurse call system, are requested to ask the nursing staff. It is only necessary to press the call bell once.
At Brisbane Private Hospital we recognise patients have certain rights, and with those rights come certain responsibilities. If you are unsure of your rights or responsibilities, brochures are available for your information. Please inform the nurse caring for you if you would like a copy.
Chaplains of all denominations and faiths make regular visits to the hospital. To comply with new privacy legislation, you will only be visited by a pastoral care representative if you have elected to disclose this information during the admission process. Arrangements for special visits can be made on request through the nurse caring for you.
An onsite pharmacy service is provided for the hospital and patients. The pharmacy carries supplies of personal toiletry items and gifts, in addition to prescription and over the counter medications. The pharmacy is located in the hospital foyer and is open to the public Mon- Fri 8.30am –5.30 pm, and Saturdays 8.30 to Midday.
Hospital Pharmacy services are provided by APHS who supply the hospital's imprest pharmacy and discharge medications, together with clinical services such as medication chart checking.

Located near the coffee shop in the main foyer, the relatives’ waiting area provides a central location for your relatives who wish to wait for you while you are having your procedure. Waiting in this area makes it easy for our staff to find family members, should the surgeon request to speak to them following your procedure.
Brisbane Private Hospital is only 1.5km from the heart of Brisbane’s CBD shopping precinct and is an easy downhill walk from the hospital. There is also a bus service available – see “Transport “ below.
Smoking is not permitted within the hospital. Patients and visitors are requested to smoke outside the hospital building. Patients requesting to smoke while hospitalised should notify nursing staff.
A specialist Stomal Therapy Nurse is available for those patients having surgery requiring formation of a stoma, and post operative care. The Stomal Therapy Nurse can assist patients to come to terms with issues, such as altered body image, provide specialist wound care and advice relating to incontinence management. Patients requesting to speak to our Stomal Therapy Nurse, should notify their doctor to organise the referral, their preadmission nurse or the nurse caring for them on the ward.
There is a taxi rank directly in front of the hospital on Wickham Terrace. Black and White & Yellow Cabs both provide free direct connection telephones located near the lifts in the hospital foyer.

Telephones are provided beside every patient's bed. Patients may make local, STD and ISD calls from this phone. To obtain an “outside line” patients must first dial “0”. Once the dial tone is heard, the number required should be dialled. All STD and ISD calls will be charged to individual patient accounts and are payable on discharge. Public telephones are also available in the main foyer and are located near the coffee shop. Mobile telephones must not be used within the hospital, as they may interfere with electrical and monitoring equipment.
Are located next to each bed. The device required to operate the TV differs from ward to ward therefore this will be explained to you upon arrival to your room.
Brisbane Private Hospital is centrally located, and has easy access to public transport facilities.

It is strongly advised you do not bring valuables into Hospital – Brisbane Private Hospital does not accept responsibility for the loss or damage of valuable items such as jewellery, video cameras or cash, brought into the hospital by patients or their visitors. Patients are requested to leave valuables with relatives, where possible. Admission staff are able to store valuable items in the safe, if alternative arrangements can not be made. Patients are requested to notify staff on admission if they require items to be stored in the safe.
Brisbane Private Hospital Volunteers are a dedicated and highly valued part of our establishment and provide great support to patients, visitors and staff. Volunteers assist with general enquiries, directions, and escort patients and their families.
